Trail Mix

Another favorite snack of mine is trail mix. Well homemade trail mix that is. Store bought trail mix is usually filled with a lot of dried fruit, chocolate, and many other sweet add ins that defeat the purpose of a healthy snack. I prefer making my own that way I know what I am feeding my body. Homemade trail mix is actually really simple and fun to make because you can add the nuts and dried fruit that you actually love. Don't you hate buying a bag of trail mix and having to pick out the majority of it, so by making your own you'll avoid that. This specific trail mix only use the raw nuts I had in my kitchen, but I usually love  adding pepitas (pumpkin seeds), almonds, sunflower seeds, cashews, & walnuts. NOTE: Make sure you buy RAW nuts not roasted nor salted. Here is my simple recipe!

Ingredients: (Depends on how much you want to make)

Peanuts

Cashews

Dried Cranberries

Raisins (Black or Golden)

Instructions:

1. In a large pan spread all nuts in a single layer. Toast over medium-low heat, mix consistently to avoid any burnt nuts. Cook until nuts are a golden brown, but make sure to keep your eye on them because the nuts burn easily.

2. Once nuts are cooked add in a handful of raisins and dried cranberries.

You are done. Now you have a snack that you can eat before a workout, post workout, and between meals. The best part they last pretty long in a glass container, but come on having these around the kitchen, they are not going to last very long. They are so ADDICTING! Hope you enjoy this and let me know in the comments if you try this out.
